Program Launch in Islamabad
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 31st December 2015, in Islamabad, launched a state-run health insurance program and described it as the first step towards making Pakistan welfare state.Initially, the initiative has been launched for the benefit of people of Islamabad, but later on it will be expanded to all parts of Punjab, Balochistan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).The scheme has been launched in 15 districts of Islamabad in the first phase and will be expanded to 23 districts in the second phase. Around 1.2 million families will get free healthcare facilities in the first phase.At the launching ceremony, the Prime Minister said that under the programme, people living below the poverty line would be able to get best possible treatment at government’s expense.
“It is our duty to provide the best medical care to poor people and this programme is just a step further in executing our responsibility.”

Prime Minister’s National Health Program is a milestone towards social welfare reforms; ensuring that the identified under-privileged citizens across the country get access to their entitled medical health care in a swift and dignified manner without any financial obligations.
The Prime Minister said the programme would benefit 3.2 million families living in Punjab, Balochistan and FATA in its two phases and a social mobilization campaign would be launched to ensure registration of all deserving people under the scheme.
Program Launch in Muzaffarabad
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif launched the National Health Programme in the AJK capital on 25th February, 2016. The Program was launched initially in Islamabad on 31st December 2015. Muzaffarabad was the second district where the programme was launched to provide in-hospital services to around 82,000 poor beneficiaries.
Addressing the launch of PM’s National Health Programme in Azad Kashmir, the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said the scheme was a dream come true, as provision of quality healthcare to those who cannot afford it was part of his party’s manifesto.

The Prime Minister lauded all those involved in the scheme and said serving the poor was a great service to the nation. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said there was a need to invest more into this vital area so as to lessen the sufferings of the people.The event was attended by AJK President Sardar Yaqub, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir and Maryam Nawaz.
Program Launch in Quetta
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on 2nd May, 2016 launched the National Health Program in the Balochistan capital, Quetta. According to the program , 76,000 poor families are likely to avail free treatment. Addressing the launch of PM’s National Health Program in Quetta, the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said through this program, the poor can get treated for fatal diseases, without spending any money.
